Holmen: amount of hazardous waste 2020

From 2011 to 2020, the amount of hazardous waste produced by the Swedish company Holmen declined. In 2011, the company generated two thousand metric tons of waste, but as of 2018, the number had declined to 1.6 thousand metric tons. In 2020, the highest amount of hazardous waste was generated at 2.3 thousand metric tons. Holmen is one of the biggest companies in the forestry industry in Sweden. The company producers different wooden products and renewable energy from wind and water.

The source adds the following information: "Hazardous waste is dealt with by authorized collection and recovery contractors. Certain fractions of the waste are recovered. In 2019, Holmen dealt with oil-containing waste from vessels that docked at two of its own ports. Such waste is included in the figures for hazardous waste. The volume of this oil-containing waste totaled 662 metric tons in 2019."
