With net sales of roughly 21 billion U.S. dollars for the year ending December 31, 2022, WestRock and International Paper were the leading paper companies in the United States based on revenue. Texas-based Kimberly-Clark followed closely, with revenue of 20.18 billion U.S. dollars.

The U.S. paper industry

The U.S. plays an important role in the global paper industry. Although U.S. paper production has declined in recent years, it was the second-largest producer of paper and paperboard worldwide in 2021, with an output of 67.5 million metric tons. Only China produces more of these materials each year.
