Deaths from road traffic accidents in Kolkata-India 2011-2020
The number of deaths from road traffic accidents across the eastern city of Kolkata in India was 201 in 2020. Of this number, the share of pedestrian deaths stood at around half. Traffic management has emerged as a challenging aspect across metropolitan cities in India. Huge traffic volumes in limited road space combined with pedestrian congestion and sub-standard infrastructure have made managing traffic a daunting task.
