Volume of dry bulk cargo processed by Port of Antwerp-Bruges (Belgium) 2008-2021
The volume of dry bulk cargo, which includes ore and scrap metal, coal, agribulk, biomass and other dry bulk cargo processed by the Port of Antwerp, decreased over the recorded time period. In 2008 the total volume of dry bulk processed was around 27 million metric tons, whereas by 2021 this had decreased to roughly 13.3 million metric tons of dry bulk cargo processed by the Port of Antwerp.
In 2022, the ports of Antwerp and Bruges underwent a merger. The increase in dry bulk cargo throughput in 2022 can thus be explained by the merger of the two ports.
