Share of people with a university degree in Italy 2018, by age-group

In 2018, 27.8 percent of Italian 30-34 year-olds held a university degree. On the other hand, the population aged 65 years and over represented the group with the lowest share of people who achieved a university degree (7.8 percent).
In the academic year 2017/2018, Italy counted 1.7 million students. The largest part of students were enrolled in a bachelor program, accounting for 61.9 percent of all students nationwide.
