Size of the global LNG fleet by status 2010-2027
As of 2020, there were 175 liquified natural gas-propelled (LNG) vessels in operation worldwide. Another 125 were LNG-ready and 55 ships were on order. The global demand for LNG-propelled vessels is expected to grow considerably in the coming years, as a response to the increasing pressure on the shipping industry to reduce its emissions.
