Breakdown of active COVID-19 cases Singapore 2020

As of June 25, 2020, there were 6,106 active cases of COVID-19 in Singapore. Out of these, 189 people were hospitalized but in stable condition, while one was in critical condition. The rest of the active cases were in isolation facilities. 26 deaths have so far been attributed to COVID-19.

Situation in Singapore

To date, a total of 36,604 people infected with the novel coronavirus in Singapore have recovered. This makes it a majority of total infections as of that date. Singapore had experienced an upswing in the number of new cases, initially through imported cases. However, the majority of new cases now are from local transmissions. To further slow down the spread, Singapore has introduced "circuit breaker" measures to restrict movement and gatherings of people, such as closing of schools, entertainment venues, and other non-essential business, as well as implementing a work-from-home order.

Situation in neighboring countries

Singapore is currently experiencing an increase in COVID-19 infections, with infection rates increasing by the day. Meanwhile in neighboring Malaysia, the number of daily cases has been decreasing after it introduced the Movement Control order (MCO), essentially limiting people from leaving their homes except for urgent reasons.

Indonesia has also seen a rapid rise in cases, having reported its first official case only in March. Within a month of detecting its first official case, Indonesia has the highest number of deaths from COVID-19 in Southeast Asia. This has led to concerns that the Indonesian government was not doing enough to detect and control the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Singapore is currently one out of more than 200 countries and territories battling the novel coronavirus. For further information about the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, please visit our dedicated Facts and Figures page.
