Monthly number of deaths in Italy 2019-2021, by gender
In March 2020 Italy recorded the highest monthly number of deaths across the period January 2019 - July 2021. The number of individuals who died in March 2020 was 86.5 thousand, the majority of which was male (44 thousand). By contrast, September 2019, when 45.8 thousand deaths were recorded, was the month with the lowest number of fatalities. In that month, the majority of individuals who died were female.
