As of financial year 2018/19, over 21.1 million passengers departed from airports in South Africa. The majority of them, accounting for over almost 10.7 million of that year's departing passengers, were travelling from O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. The second busiest airport, with approximately 5.44 million departing passengers, was Cape Town International Airport.
