Supplementary notes

* The first survey was carried out from April 27 to 30, 2020, the second survey took place from May 11 to 29, 2020, the third one was from June 11 to 30, while the fourth took place between the 10 and the 31 of October 2020.

The survey was carried out in 32 Mexican cities

The number of households surveyed amounted to 1,135 in April, 2,143 in May, 2,605 in June, and 2,976 in July.

Amidst the COVID-19 outbreak in Mexico, the Consumer confidence index Survey in Mexico, known as 'Indicador de confianza del consumidor', had to be cancelled until further notice. As a result, the National Institute of Statistics and Geography, known as 'Instituto nacional de geografía y estadística (INEGI)', carried out a Telephone-based consumer confidence survey- 'Encuesta Telefónica sobre Confianza del Consumidor (ETCO)'. The survey is meant to monitor consumer confidence in the country during the lockdown period.

Due to a difference in methodology non-phone-based data should only serve as a reference in comparison to ETCO data. ETCO should not be considered a continuation of the non-phone based survey.
