Hazardous waste generation in India FY 2022, by state
In financial year 2022, India's western state of Gujarat generated over 4.2 million metric tons of hazardous waste. This was the largest quantity produced by any state in India, and represented more than one third of the total hazardous waste output across the South Asian country that year. Other major producers included Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha.
