Travel and tourism's direct contribution to employment in Africa 2008-2019

As of 2019, the travel and tourism industry concentrated more than nine million jobs in Africa. Since 2015, the employment within the sector increased constantly. Tourism had a considerable impact on the economy of the African continent, accounting for 2.5 percent of all employment in 2019, considering only the direct jobs generated in the sector. Egypt, Nigeria, and South Africa were the countries with the highest number of employees in the African tourism market.
