From April to December 2020, roughly 1.85 million trips abroad booked by Finnish residents were cancelled or postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. During the first two months of 2020, outbound trips of Finnish residents stayed at the same level as in the previous year, but the situation changed dramatically during March. Due to the COVID-19 related travel restrictions, 510 thousand trips abroad were cancelled in April. The number of cancelled or postponed outbound trips declined steadily in the following months. Around 80 percent of these trips were scheduled for April to June 2020 and only 20 percent for July to September 2020.
