In the fourth quarter of 2019, the power generation company Enel Russia disposed of a coal-fired plant Reftinskaya GRES, with a strategic plan to reduce the share of coal in its production to zero. In 2019, the company generated over 13 terawatt hours of power from coal, which accounted for more than 40 percent of the total. Enel Russia invested in renewable energy sources, planning the Azov wind farm to start operating in December 2020, the Kolskaya WPP in December 2021, and the Rodnikovskaya WPP in the first half of 2024.
