Electricity demand in the household sector Japan FY 2012-2021
In the fiscal year 2021, the electricity demand for the residential sector in Japan amounted to approximately 249.6 billion kilowatt hours. Figures had been on a general downward trend since the peak demand of the decade was reached in fiscal 2012 at almost 289 billion kilowatt hours, although the spikes in fiscal 2017 and 2020 could indicate a shift in electricity consumption. In the measured time period, the residential sector had the second highest electricity demand, following the business sector.
