Number of new companies and cancellations in Italy 2006-2020
In 2020, there were over 290 thousand newly registered companies and some 270 cancellations in Italy. That year, there were in total about six million registered enterprises. Between 2006 and 2020, the number of new enterprises in the country decreased. Roughly 290 thousand firms were registered in 2020, which was the lowest value during the period under consideration. According to regional data, Lombardy, Lazio, and Campania counted the largest number of firms nationwide.
