Default risk of SMEs in Italy 2020, by risk category and sector
This statistic displays the default risk distribution of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in Italy as of 2020, broken down by risk category and sector. Over the period of consideration, the highest share of companies with a safe financial profile was found in the sector of energy and utilities (roughly 22 percent). Nearly 39 percent of the Italian SMEs active in the construction sector were found to be in the vulnerable category, whereas 22 percent were considered at risk.
