Kenya's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 6.8 percent in the first quarter of 2022. The Kenyan economy has been showing signs of recovery since the easing of containment measures implemented to curb the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). Among sectors, accommodation and food services had the strongest performance, with quarterly growth of over 56 percent. Mining and quarrying registered a 22 percent growth rate. On the other hand, agricultural activities contracted by 0.7 percent, mainly due to the impacts of weather conditions on the production level.
