Leading African countries in oil consumption 2023
As of 2023, Egypt was the country in Africa that consumed oil the most, reaching a volume of 878 thousand barrels per day. This was followed by South Africa and Algeria, at 621 thousand and 405 thousand barrels per day, respectively. Overall in Africa, the final consumption of oil reached nearly 190 million metric tons in 2019.
