Oil consumption change in Canada 2011-2022
In 2022, oil consumption in Canada increased by nearly four percent, compared to the previous year. Since 2011, figures oscillated, with the greatest consumption growth seen in 2016, when figures increased by 1.9 percent in comparison to the year before. In recent years, the Alberta oil sands were accounted for in the proven oil reserves under the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (now known as the Energy Resources Conservation Board).
