As of 2021, 42.5 percent of total employment in Africa was in the agricultural sector. According to estimates, the share of people employed in agriculture has been slowly decreasing on the continent. In comparison, in 2010, 48.2 percent of total employment in Africa was in the sector. On the other hand, employment in the service sector in Africa increased along the same period.
