Residential heating fuel share in South Dakota 2020, by type
Utility gas is the most common residential heating fuel type in South Dakota. In 2020, some 46.4 percent of the occupied housing units in the state relied on utility gas for heating. Electricity was the second most used house heating fuel type, at 32.2 percent.
