The data collection was based on information from around 7,700 authorized district chimney sweeps. The results were collected and brought together by the Central Chimney Sweep Guild.

Figures preceding 2010 were taken from earlier reports. Due to an amendment in the first ordinance of the Federal Emissions Control Act, figures are not directly comparable.
