Share of non-white people represented on television in France 2019

In 2019, there was a decline in the representation of people perceived as "non-white" on French television: 15 percent of people were perceived as such in 2019 compared to 17 percent in 2018. Yet this representation had been steadily increasing since 2014 (14 percent in 2014, 16 percent in 2016, and 17 percent in 2017 and 2018). In 2019, about half of people perceived as non-white represented in television programs were perceived as black.

- 17 free DTT channels (TF1, France 2, France 3, France 4, France 5, France Ô, M6, W9, BFM TV, C8, CStar, Gulli, CNews, NRJ 12, TMC, TFX, RMC Story) and Canal + ;
- 2 weeks of programs: from March 11 to 17 and from September 9 to 15, 2019;
- on the time slots from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm (any program in which more than 50% of the duration takes place between 5:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. being indexed in its entirety);
- midday news programs on channels that broadcast them (TF1, France 2, France 3, M6, C8, TMC and France Ô)."
