The annual revenue generated by out-of-home food and drink services varied a lot in the space of a decade. Overall, figures experienced an upward trend between 2009 and 2019, increasing by more than 20 billion euros. The highest result in that sector was recorded in 2019 and amounted to around 100 billion euros. However, a decline is expected in 2020, as the restaurant industry has been one of the most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
