Share of French people having been victims of incest 2009-2020
When looking at the proportion of people declaring to have been victims of incest in France between 2009 and 2020, it appears that the share of reported victims increased from three to ten percent over the study period. It can be assumed that this increase is not due to a greater occurrence of these crimes, but to a liberation of the victims' speech who are less afraid to testify about the violence they suffered in their childhood.
