Gender gap index in the area of political empowerment in Morocco 2022, by indicator

In 2022, Morocco obtained an overall score of 0.15 in the area of political empowerment under the gender gap index. The highest points were registered when considering the percentage of women in parliament, at 0.32, ranking 82nd in the world. On the other hand, the country recorded no female head of state within the last 50 years, achieving zero points in the political empowerment sub-index.

The Global Gender Gap Index measures gender-based disparities among four fundamental categories, namely Economic Participation and Opportunity, Educational Attainment, Health and Survival, and Political Empowerment. The highest possible score is one, which signifies total equality between women and men.
