Tanzania's banking sector registered a core capital adequacy ratio of 16.7 percent, while the total capital ratio was measured at 17.9 percent. The figures indicated that the industry remained adequately capitalized, above the regulatory thresholds of 10 percent and 12 percent, respectively. The capital adequacy ratio indicates a bank's capacity to meet liabilities and other risks.
