Share of children attending schools in South Africa 2018, by gender
In 2018, the share of male children between the ages of six and 13 years who were attending a primary education institution in South Africa was at 91.6 percent. This was slightly higher than that for females, which stood at 90.1 percent. Moreover, 7.2 percent of males and nine percent of females were attending other educational institutions (pre-primary, secondary or other special schools). Furthermore, slightly more males than females were out of school.
