Coverage of safely managed sanitation services in African countries 2020
Nearly five in every 10 people living in Lesotho had access to safely managed sanitation services in 2020. This was the best performance among the selected countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. On the other hand, safely managed sanitation services were accessible to only seven percent of Ethiopia's population. In general, the coverage varied widely in the region. On average, 23 percent of Sub-Saharan Africa's urban population had access to safely managed sanitation services as of the same year.
