Iron production volume in Africa 2020, by country
South Africa was by far the largest producer of iron and ferroalloy metals in Africa as of 2020. The country produced nearly 49 million metric tons of the items. As a comparison, Mauritania, which ranked second in the continent, recorded an iron output of 8.1 million metric tons in that same year.
