South Korea: workers with flexible work schedules by type and gender 2022

In 2022, about 30.7 percent of male and 23.9 percent of female workers worked with a flexitime system. This was the most common type of flexible work schedule for male workers that year, while for female workers a flexible commuting system was more common.

*A flexible commuting system allows employees to start and end work at different times. The total daily working hours can not exceed the limit of eight hours per day.

**A flexitime system allows employees to start and end work at different times within the agreed weekly working hours (e.g. flexible commuting system and selective working hours system).

***A selective working hours system allows employees to start and end work at different times by setting only the total weekly working hours and leaving the daily working hours to the discretion of the employees.
