From 2006 to 2016, the mortality rate among First Nations people living on-reserve in Alberta was 655 per 100,000 person years at risk, the highest among all regions in Canada. In contrast, the mortality rate among non-Indigenous Albertans was around 312 per 100,000 person years at risk.
