Contribution of indicators to the MPI in India according to NSSO-71 and NSSO-75
According to the National Sample Survey 71th round (NSSO-71) and 75th round (NSSO-75), low income remained the dominant indicator of the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) in India, accounting for over 56 percent in both surveys. This was followed by two indicators of the standard of living dimensions: cooking and sanitation. Meanwhile, child mortality and under-nutrition seemed to have shown insignificant contribution to the MPI.
