Women's average earnings as percentage of men's in government in Denmark 2010-2021
At the beginning of the last decade, female senior government officials in Denmark earned more than their male counterparts. Since 2016, however, female senior government officials earn averagely around 90 percent of what men in the same position do. Compared to men's wages, women's wages dropped by almost 12 percent in 2016; this was the year after the general election when Lars Løkke Rasmussen came to power, which would have resulted in significant internal re-structuring. The pattern of women earning around 90 percent of men's salaries continued also after Mette Fredriksen took office in 2019.
