Prime ministers in the Nordic countries 1980-2023, by gender
As of August 2023, Finland is the Nordic country which has had the most female prime ministers, three in total. The previous Finnish prime minister, Sanna Marin, was at the time of her swearing-in ceremony in 2019 the world's youngest incumbent state leader. Two out of five of the current prime ministers in the Nordic countries are women. That being said, until 1981, none of the Nordic countries had ever sworn in a female prime minister.
