Mozambique: total labor force

The total number of people in the labor force in Mozambique increased by 0.5 million people (+3.4 percent) in 2023 in comparison to the previous year. With 15.19 million people, the number of people in the labor force thereby reached its highest value in the observed period. Notably, the number of people in the labor force continuously increased over the last years.
The labor force is the total number of people aged 15 and older currently employed, those unemployed but seeking work, and first-time job-seekers. It excludes individuals who are unemployed and not seeking employment, such as students and retirees.

'Labor force comprises people ages 15 and older who supply labor for the production of goods and services during a specified period. It includes people who are currently employed and people who are unemployed but seeking work as well as first-time job-seekers. Not everyone who works is included, however. Unpaid workers, family workers, and students are often omitted, and some countries do not count members of the armed forces. Labor force size tends to vary during the year as seasonal workers enter and leave.'
