CO2 emissions in Africa 2000-2020, by fuel type
Africa's carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from fossil fuels and industry amounted to 1.33 billion metric tons in 2020. Of these, over 60 percent came from coal and oil production. These fuels contributed 446 million and 471 million metric tons to the continent's emissions, respectively. In 2020, Africa accounted for 3.8 percent of the global CO2 emissions.
