Number of Russian entities subject to U.S. export controls 2022, by industry

Out of the total 392 Russian companies that were subject to export controls by the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) of the United States Department of Commerce as of March 3, 2022, the majority operated in the tech and energy industries. In 2022 alone, the institution placed such restrictions on 126 entities from Russia, 24 of which were in the shipbuilding sector. Companies that were added to the list by the BIS could only receive exports from U.S. individuals and entities that received a license from the U.S. government.
