Export value in Ukraine 2019-2021, by commodity

In 2021, the value of exports of agriculture products from Ukraine amounted to nearly 27.6 billion U.S. dollars, ranking it the leading export category. Exports of ferrous and non-ferrous metals were the second-highest, worth over 15.7 billion U.S. dollars in the same year.

Agricultural export commodities of Ukraine

In 2021/2022 crop year, wheat was one of the main grain products exported abroad from Ukraine, as per more than two million metric tons. To compare, maize exports exceeded 23 million metric tons over the same period. Furthermore, cereals accounted for nearly one fifth of the total merchandise exports share. The export volume of vegetable oils reached approximately 5.6 million metric tons, which was expected to increase in the next 2021/2022 marketing year.

Ukraine’s trade partners

Over the period from 2016 to 2021, Europe ranked first among Ukraine’s main trade partners, which was the source of the country’ largest revenue share in 2021. Nevertheless, China was the country’s leading exports destination with a total value of exported goods reaching about 7.8 billion U.S. dollars in 2021. Poland ranked second, having imported goods from Ukraine for approximately 4.4 billion U.S. dollars. In the same year, a large volume of wheat worth over 1.5 billion U.S. dollars was exported to Egypt and Indonesia.
