Global natural gas price index 1992-2022
The global natural gas price index reached a peak of 521.58 in 2022. This was a more than two-fold increase from the previous year. In the period of consideration, the lowest figures were recorded in 1998, at 57.45 index points. Natural gas prices increased significantly in the latter half of 2021 owing to greater power demand combined with supply constraints. This trend has continued into 2022, as shown by the monthly natural gas price index.
