Japan: correct answer rate of national academic assessment by subject

According to the results of the National Assessment Academic Ability (NAAA) conducted in April 2023, students in sixth and ninth grade in Japan answered approximately 63 percent of questions on average correctly on the subject of Japanese. In terms of mathematics, students in ninth grade correctly solved about 51.4 percent of questions on average, around 11 percent lower than students in sixth grade.

The Ministry of Education Science and Technology (MEXT) in Japan conduct the National Assessment Academic Ability (NAAA) every year to assess the academic development of students in sixth grade and ninth grade across Japan. In 2023, the test was conducted on April 18th.
The English test is only conducted for students in ninth grade.
