In 2019, the number of deaths from non-communicable diseases in Kenya reached 60,430 among men, compared to 59,528 among women. For both genders, it was the highest level recorded since 2011. Also known as chronic diseases, non-communicable conditions are of four types: cardiovascular, cancers, chronic respiratory, and diabetes. The number of casualties from NCDs in Kenya increased annually and peaked in 2019. Remarkably, deaths occurred in slightly higher numbers among men throughout the years.
