The largest source of waste generation in the United Kingdom is the construction, demolition and excavation (CD&E) segment, which accounted for 62 percent of total waste generation in the UK in 2018. This amounted to some 138 million metric tons of waste materials. Households accounted for 12 percent of total UK waste generation that year.
