GHG emissions in Brazil 2020, by sector
Changes in land use and forests, associated with deforestation and wildfires, is the main cause of greenhouse gas emissions in Brazil. In 2020, it accounted for more than 46 percent of total GHG emissions. The agriculture and livestock sector ranked second, generating an estimated 577 million metric tons of CO₂ equivalent worth of emissions in that year.
