Global needed emissions reductions through ocean-based actions 2050, by type
By 2050, to stay under a 1.5 degrees Celsius change relative to pre-industrial levels, emission reductions of about 11.8 gigatonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent per year are needed from ocean-based solutions. This amounts to nearly 21 percent of the needed annual greenhouse gas emissions reductions by 2050.
