Investments in midstream natural gas between 2021 and 2050 are expected differ considerably between world regions with respect to liquefaction, regasification, and pipelines. Investment in regasification between 2021 an 2050 is expected to be the highest in the Asia Pacific region, at a value of 155 billion U.S. dollars, while North America is expected to take the lead in liquefaction capacity investment, at 175 billion U.S. dollars over the same timeframe. It is also forecast that the midstream natural gas investments in Europe and Latin America over that timeframe will primarily be earmarked for regasification, while in Africa, Eurasia, and the Middle East it will be mostly in liquefaction capacity.
