Number of SMS sent in Portugal 2019-2023

In Portugal, the number of SMS sent decreased from almost 10.8 billion, in 2021, to 10.6 billion, in 2022, a number that represents an average of approximately 2.3 SMS sent daily, per mobile phone with effective use. This decreasing trend has been registered since 2020 when the number of SMS sent lowered from 15 billion registered in 2019 to 11 billion, and it continued during the year 2023, when 9.4 billion SMS were sent.
