Prevalence of chronic hunger, moderate and severe food insecurity in India 2015 -2021
Between 2019 and 2021, approximately 307 million Indians experienced severe food insecurity, while 224 million individuals were affected by chronic hunger. The stark divide in socio-economic structures, among other social determinants, was a major contributor to food insecurity in the country. There was a consistent increase among Indians that went hungry in recent years.
