Number of permits issued to climb Mount Everest in Nepal 2021, by gender
In 2021, the Nepalese Department of Tourism recorded issuing 81 global mountaineers who identified as female with permits for climbing Mount Everest. This constituted over a quarter of all permits given out for climbing Mt. Everest that year. Meanwhile, 322 mountaineers who identified as male received permits for Mt. Everest in that same year.
